  1. As usual, it is only a concept – nothing working, and they still need fuel to get it off the ground.
    I saw an article the other day about why electric planes aren’t going to be viable. A big jet has 800MWh of energy in its tanks. If that was electricity, think how long it would take to recharge. It would be all of the power from a station like Karapiro for over 8 hours. If nothing else, the size of the extension cords would need a crane to lift them!

    1. More that that. Planes can take off way overweight because they burn enough fuel to be at maximum landing weight at their destination. Means lot more cargo and passengers.

      Electric planes have same takeoff and landing weight.
