One of the things I noticed on campus in the year after the fall of the Berlin Wall is the left-wing groups immediately became the Green Left and the newspaper Green Left Weekly was launched. A number of Trotskyists and Stalinists joined the Green parties around that time and went on to get into Parliament.
I remember a gathering of the campus Trotskyists in the next room to my econometrics lecture. Their meeting was ending just before my lecture started.
The campus Trotskyists once had a guest speaker speaking in a thick Glaswegian accent about how it’s a great time for agitating now they don’t longer had to apologise for Eastern Europe and Soviet Union.
Ironically, the group that met in the next will room was the campus Christians. Both of them left their respective rooms at the same time after having communed with God.
