I’ve seen snips of this before, but Rick has now sent me the whole original report.
Many attempts have been made to discredit and marginalise stories of the global cool down in the 1960’s and 70’s. As we know, these were not simply scare stories but were based on factual evidence from authoritative scientists such as HH Lamb and others.
Much of this cooling has since been wiped from the record by revisionist temperature adjustments, but the reality is that the authorities of the time were extremely concerned, not so much by the temperature measurements themselves, but by the climatic effects which resulted.
As I have reported before here, the White House set up a special Subcommittee in 1974 to “assess the problem and determine what concerted action ought to be undertaken”.
In the same year, the CIA prepared this working paper.
