Driving back from our interview with Mike Moore, through the rolling hills around Whitford, Guyon Espiner and I talked about what had been a powerful – even moving – day spent with the former Prime Minister. It was the first of five remarkable days we spent with the five folk who led New Zealand from 1989 to 2008 – Moore, Sir Geoffrey Palmer, Jim Bolger, Dame Jenny Shipley and Helen Clark.
