Jacinda Adern

Prime Minister – New Zealand

Dear Jacinda,

I write this letter as a patriotic Kiwi with best intentions for my country and for the future health and welfare of my fellow Kiwis. You have a very difficult job at this moment in time. There can be no doubt about that.

It is hard to know where to begin in countering the misinformation in this article. I will restrict myself to 2 observations.

From the article: “the total rates of death in Italy during this COVID-19 period are not particularly unusual.” This is not true, the excess deaths in italy compared to the same time last year are very “unusual”:

    https://towardsdatascience.com/covid-19-excess-mortality-figures-in-italy-d9640f411691

The mortality rate is almost certainly not 0.1%. Estimates from Germany, South Korea and Iceland where extensive testing has been done put it at around 0.3%-0.5%. So if we let it run wild in New Zealand we would be looking at 15,000 to 25,000 deaths from COVID-19.

The ambulance at the bottom of the cliff is only empty because of the fence installed at the top of the cliff.

numcrun, you are much too cautious…
This ‘Open Letter to Jacinda Adern’ does very much look like many ‘sponsored’ pieces by Russian propaganda outlets.
