A week or so back, we picked up on a brilliant article in The Australian by Henry Ergas – Professor of Infrastructure Economics at the University of Wollongong’s SMART Infrastructure Facility – in which he likened Australia’s renewable energy policies to a death wish (our post here).
Henry’s back, this time on 2GB detailing the depth of Australia’s self-inflicted power market calamity in this interview with STT Champion, Alan Jones. Click on the play button for audio – transcript follows below.

Alan Jones AO: Matter of weeks and we’re almost back to where we started. This is very, very serious stuff. I don’t think anyone except businesses who have signed forward contracts and consumers who’ve been listening to me and are now scrutinising their electricity bills, but I’m not sure it’s sunk in. What kind of energy crisis confronts us. You’ve got these people, Turnbull and…

Some people lose all sense of proportion when their dog attacks people. They are just in denial that the dog is dangerous.
File Pit Bull Image
Latham & Watkins partner Michelle Kelban-Carteron is in an intense litigation with the board of managers of her Chelsea Modern condo over what her counsel says is “dog racism” in a ban on pit bulls and “other potentially dangerous dogs.” The lawsuit by the board cites instances of Luna lunging at residents and barking at other dogs in an aggressive manner. As a result, they seek an injunction and declaration that Kelban-Carteron has breached her contract and violated the associational rules of the condo. It also alleges the creation of a nuisance.

If you want to see a bunch of hypocritical leftists squirming with embarrassment, there’s a very clever video showing what happens when a bunch of pro-tax hike millionaires are asked to voluntarily pay more money to the IRS.
I’ve even debated some of these rich, pro-tax statists on TV, telling them not to make the rest of us victims of their neurotic guilt feelings.
They definitely don’t put their money where their mouths are. There is an official government webpage where people can voluntary send extra cash to Washington, but the amount of money raised doesn’t even qualify as an asterisk in the federal budget.
You probably won’t be surprised to learn that people elsewhere in the world also are not keen on the idea of deliberately giving politicians extra money to spend.
Bloomberg has a rather amusing story about the utter failure of a voluntary tax in…

Quick news: Swedish media seem very silent on the topic (EDIT: it appears I was just fast – several newspieces have come since), as court rules grocery chain Coop is forbidden from continued use of its marketing video “The Organic Effect” launched 2015, or the arguments from that campaign, including lines like ‘we’re eating pesticides’ and ‘chemicals removed from my kids bodies’ or ‘organic food is grown without chemical pesticides’. If they use the arguments or the video, but continue to fail to provide evidence for such claims, they are threatened by a fine of whooping one million krona (about 100 000 Euro / almost 120 000 US dollars). In addition, they must cover the claimant’s court costs.
