    1. This seems to be a suspension of good judgement when you are countrymen are locked up abroad no matter for what reason. All the complaints about Australian drug traffickers been jailed in Indonesia and Malaysia are an example.

      Death penalty aside, and many were not death penalty cases, the public response is how dare you pesky foreigners lock up our criminals. In my view, you are a fool if you commit a crime in a foreign country.

      The Labor Party here was making much of all the Kiwis deported back to New Zealand under tough new rules.

      The main concern of focus groups run by the governing party was would be they would start reoffending here. 20% did within 6 months including some serious sex offences.
