In fact it’s not so true anymore. First Japanese society doesn’t show a lot of chubby people. Last year a movement started to put more chubby girls on covers of magazines or in jpop groups. In Japan you must be thin even if there are loads of cake restaurants from France and convenience stores sell loads of chocolates and cream Chou. It’s true though that the basic meal is quite healthy, no dessert for example in menus. Japanese people have not eaten a lot of meat in the past and temple food is very healthy too but lots of girls are on a diet to be thin. The first times in Japan I always lost weight lots of walking, great food but also hot in summer so you eat less… I thought it would be easy to be thin in Japan but now I see the other side : lots of fried dishes, alcohol, ring able to eat whenever you want…
