That filled a gap in the details ofmy historical knowledge, though only the Between 2Wars link touched on the guaranteed raw materials supply from the USSR, freeing Germany from a repeat of the WW1 problem of economic blockade and its role in hindering military production and collapsing civilian morale by 1918. The blockade in WW2 was much more serious for Germany partly because of the increased importance of oil, partly because Britain, having learned from WW1, moved very smartly to lock up Spanish, Turkish and elsewhere’s strategic raw materials in exclusive contracts.
